"Big John" Richardson

Who is he and why is he here?

In just a few short years “Big John” has seen more of Kentucky, Ohio and Indiana than many people do in a lifetime.  But John has seen the sights from a comedy stage.  One of the most popular opening acts at his home club, John’s career started with a dare.  And in 1998, on an open mike nite at the Comedy Caravan in Louisville, KY, John’s career took off like a rocket.

Not bad for a guy who was once the host of “Black & Bluegrass,” a Sunday afternoon bluegrass show broadcast from Eminence, KY.

Mixing social commentary and stories from his own life, John has developed a unique perspective with a delivery that is best described as “Cosbyesque.”  And since that open mike nite in Louisville, John has been fortunate to work with, and be tutored by, some of the finest road comics in the country.  Including Henry Cho, Jammin Jay Lamont, Dobie Maxwell, Mark Klein, Mike Armstrong, Lavell Crawford, Spike Davis, J. Scott Homan and Bernie Lubbers.  And from the hit television show, “Last Comic Standing,” Alonzo Bodden, Corey Holcomb and Big Jim Wiggins.

Ask any one of them and they’ll tell you that “Big John” Richardson is a very funny man with a great stage presence who is a pleasure to work with.  And after one show, you’ll agree 100%
